It's dark when Joshua reaches his old home; he drives slowly up the street, sees lights inside Tandar's house. The engine barely breathes; the scraping of the tires seems loud. He passes on, further up, to where his own house used to stand. In its place is a newer house, he has seen it before; like his was before, it is the only house on the street that fails to mirror the others. He slows down and stares at it, and then he glides on to the other end of the street.
