even i could do it.

blitheringly easy instructions for a wedge

so a friend wrote me a while ago and said:

"i like that every goddamn easy-guide-to-living-with-gerd tells you to get a wedge, but then doesn't bother to mention where you might acquire one."

it only took about a year for the guild to sink in and for me to actually put onto my GERD pages how to do the wedge thing.

so you can get a foam wedge in several sizes, colors, firmnesses, and shapes for between $50 & $170 or even spring for a craftmatic adjustable bed, and it's hard to know which ones are good and will last, etc etc...

screw all that. for around $10 you can go get a couple 72x40 inch pieces of plywood and some hinges from home depot, or whatever passes for your nearby lumber yard. screw the hindges on so that you get two pieces of wood that lie flat, hindged together. you can dynamically vary the height of your wedge with a user determined number of books you aren't likely to read anytime soon. for a long time, i used calculus textbooks. honestly, that's all i've ever done. it's worked fine.

...and if james hadn't thought if it for me, i'd probably still be saving for that craftmatic.
